Stephen Howes 

With over 30 years' experience in the IT industry holding both software development and IT Director leadership positions Stephen has a proven track record developing and managing enterprise grade infrastructures, products and software solutions. Stephen’s experience extends across many sectors including Pharmaceutical, Internet Services, E-commerce and IT Security.

During the Internet growth years, Steve worked as Director of Global Product Infrastructure Engineering at UUNET, the worlds largest 'Tier 1' Internet Service Provider designing and developing innovative, highly scalable business critical systems which were deployed across 65 countries.

In 2005 Stephen co-invented and patented GrIDsure, a groundbreaking method of authentication and pioneered the concept of 'Pattern Based Authentication'. GrIDsure was the subject of the BBC Money Programme "Britain's Brilliant Ideas Boom" and was awarded Gartner's 'Cool Vendor' in security. As company founder and Technical Director GrIDsure's customers included the world's fourth largest banking group as well as a broad range of commercial and public sector organisations across Europe, the US and the Middle East. GrIDsure is now being sold by Gemalto, a global provider of security products.

Stephen has worked as an IT management consultant since 2011 designing and developing a wide variety of solutions for companies large and small across many business sectors. He advises on IT strategy, has assisted in patent applications, helped overseas companies gain a foothold in the UK market and worked with them to obtain UK and EU technology innovation grants. 

A very approachable individual, Stephen is an excellent communicator at all levels, an innovative thinker who combines solid commercial and IT leadership skills.

Stephen is a member of the British Computer Society and is a Chartered IT Professional.

David Hurst


David began his career as a trainee programmer for DataMatters, a company owned by Martin Taylor, a renowned author and world leading expert on Multivalue operating systems and databases. DataMatters specialised in Pick, Unidata and D3. Working with Martin, David received world class training not only in Multivalue systems but in development and database design.

David left DataMatters after five years and worked in the car hire and textile industries holding positions as IT Manager and assistant to the Group IT Director of William Bird PLC a worldwide organisation which turned over in the region of 4 Billion GBP. Working with William Bird David was responsible for linking all their factories across three continents to a Data General minicomputer running Universe running under DG-UX.

David later returned to DataMatters to help service a new customer, Coversure Insurance Services. When DataMatters later merged with Coversure, David became the Group IT Director, responsible for infrastructure, development and support of 800 users across 60 branches.

In 2002 David set up his own consultancy company specialising in D3, Development and Databases and worked for start-up companies, government agencies and global organisations.

In 2010 David ran a software development department of 11 staff in an IT services company working with a range of clients and technologies across various industries.

David brings a wide range technical expertise to the business and his genial personality endears him with technical and non-technical people alike.
